England vs Switzerland Euro 2016 Betting PT 1

The English side have already confirmed their presence at Euro 2016 after defeating San Marino last week to clinch qualification and it looks extremely likely that Roy Hodgson's men will be going through as group winners. Wayne Rooney was able to tie the record for top English goalscorer in history by securing a penalty and playing decently well in the match but you always have to take fixtures against the likes of San Marino, Andorra and Gibraltar with a grain of salt.

With today's match-up against Switzerland looking likely to be a bit of a dead-rubber for the English side at least you have to wonder whether it's worth backing them to win against one of the stronger sides in their group.

One would have to assume that Hodgson will name more of an experimental line-up and not play his top stars for this one – or at least just give them a 45 minute run around. Despite this being a competitive fixture it's unlikely that they will be absolutely balls to the wall and try to secure all three points in this one.

Look for this match-up to be a chance for some of the emerging players to make a statement against a high quality European side. And you can also assume it will be an opportunity for players like James Milner to perhaps get a bit of redemption following a rather unimpressive match against the part-timers of San Marino – a side that typically includes students, builders, gym teachers and people who wait tables in restaurants.

As it currently stands, England are trading at an odds-on price of 4/5 to secure the victory here at Wembley in front of the home fans. That's not exactly the greatest price when you factor in that England don't really have much to play for here aside from pride. A good performance will be crucial for Hodgson since he doesn't get to see his players for another while and you can assume that they will be able to get the job done if they stay organized and play some genuinely effective football against the Swiss.
