England vs Switzerland Euro 2016 Qualifier Pt 2
- By A.J. Ryder on September 8, 2014 18:41 GMTWayne Rooney is trading at a 5/2 listing to get the anytime goal while he is a competitive 13/2 to score first or last in this one. Rooney’s quality is definitely there and you also get the added benefit of knowing that he’ll be taking the penalties for England - as he did in their opening friendly fixture against Norway.

The tricky thing about wagering on Rooney is that you know he’s going to be getting the bulk of the attention from the Swiss defenders and his tendency to drop deep into midfield to bring the ball out himself often means that he’s not in the best position to score goals when the ball actually gets played into the box.
If Rooney plays this match as a genuine striker then England will be in very good shape here but he spends his time running around the midfield they will be left short up front and it will all be on Rickie Lambert now that Daniel Sturridge is out with an injury after picking one up in training at the weekend.
Speaking of Lambert you can back him at a 3/1 margin to score at any point in the match and he’s 15/2 to grab the first or last goal. It’s also worth looking out for Swiss striker Xherdan Shaqiri at 11/4 any time and 7/1 to grab the opener or final goal.
In tight fixtures like this it can often be a good idea to take a look at the big priced odds on the defenders to grab a goal and you can back the likes of Phil Jones to score any time at a hefty 18/1 margin while Phil Jagielka is a 22/1 shot.
