ENGLAND VS USA STARTING LINEUP CONFIRMS EMILE HESKEY SET TO START
We've just had the team-sheets released for the USA vs England match in Rustenberg today for the 2010 World Cup. This is probably the most anticipated fixture of the tournament up to this point and I am hoping that the match turns out to be the advertisement for football that we all know it can be.
Fabio Capello hasn't exactly produced a shocking line-up, it's a fairly predictable one although the inclusion of Emile Heskey might be considered a surprise to some.
England: Green, Johnson, King, Terry, A Cole, Lennon, Lampard, Gerrard, Milner, Heskey, Rooney.
USA: Howard, Cherundolo, DeMerit, Onyewu, Bocanegra, Donovan, Bradley, Clark, Dempsey, Altidore, Findley.
It goes without saying that Wayne Rooney is the favoured goalscorer for the England side with an 8/11 price from popular bookmaker Blue Square. I think his price of 9/2 to score from outside the box is an interesting one as well- I expect Rooney to have a few shots from distance at least.
The Americans will be expecting Landon Donovan to orchestrate things from the midfield, but he's also priced at 11/4 to score anytime. Clint Dempsey is a solid bet for the Americans and he's listed at 3/1 price.
The correct score betting favours a lower-scoring affair, but I have a feeling that England could get three or more goals here today if they are really on-song. The Americans have trouble keeping clean sheets, despite the fact that Tim Howard is a talented keeper.
I think what would really derail England would be a red card on a sloppy tackle. If the Americans can get a man-advantage then it's game on here. England are 8/1 to see a red card in this match while the United States are at a mere 9/2. Both teams to see Red pays out at a very solid 14/1.
