ENGLAND VS USA WORLD CUP 2010 UP TO THE MINUTE BETTING TIPS
We're just about two hours away from kick-off of the weekend's most anticipated match and this one is set to be an absolute blockbuster. England vs USA is one of the premier matches of the Group stage and there is so much pride at stake in this one, it's really going to be fascinating to see it unfold.
Many people predict that England will get the relatively easy victory, but the Americans will certainly be looking to revive the spirit of 1950 when they scored a shock World Cup victory against the English side.
Popular UK bookmaker Ladbrokes is listing England as the 1.5 favourites to win, and I expect that price to drop if England open the match well. The United States odds to win the match are 7.0 with the UK bookmakers and I believe they are trading at a bit less than that on the Las Vegas betting line.
The current word is that Emile Heskey will likely partner Rooney up front, at least for the first 45 minutes, and I would really prefer to have Peter Crouch's unsettling presence, but I have faith in Capello so I'll wait to see it unfold.
I don't really recommend backing Heskey to score, but Wayne Rooney to score first alongside Heskey is an excellent bet. Ladbrokes has priced that at a 4.0 price tag and that's about right for me. If Aaron Lennon gets the nod to start on the right for England, then I think he's worth a look too as he will likely be spearheading England's counter-attacks or he will be the one running onto the end of longer balls. Watch for him to run at defenders and try to turn them inside out.
I think Lennon could be a key variable for England as the Americans will likely be trying to double mark Rooney and keep him quiet. Lennon will likely be able to move into the space created by this and his electric pace can make the Americans unsettled very quickly. He's trading at 15.0 to open the scoring and 5.5 to score anytime.
If the game is a tight one, then I think that backing England's defenders to score is probably your best option. We are confident in the ability of Ledley King and Glen Johnson to get balls into the back of the net, while Ashley Cole and John Terry aren't so bad either. You can get 11.0 on Ledley King to score at anytime and Glen Johnson trades at the same price. Ashley ole is listed at 13.0 while John Terry is the favoured goalscorer at 8.0 anytime.
