ENGLAND VS WEST INDIES TWENTY20 LIVE BETTING TIPS
In just a short time, England will be taking on the West Indies to determine who goes through to the semi-finals of the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 Championships! After both teams defeated once-dominant India over the last 72 hours, the former tournament favourites were dumped out of the competition and it now comes down to this match de figure out who follows South Africa into the next stage. The bookies don't see much between the two teams and both are listed at 5/6 at Paddy Power for the outright win. West Indies carry a slight edge in terms of the highest opening partnership at 4/5 compared to England's 10/11, but that demonstrates just how little there really is between these two sides. Ravi Bopara is tied with Kevin Pietersen at 3/1 to notch England's highest batting total while Luke Wright drops back to 4/1. Owais Shah is listed alongside Dimitri Mascerenhas at 11/2 while Paul Collingwood sits at 7/1. Chris Gayle, of course, is West Indies lowest odds for highest opening batsman at 11/4 with Lendl Simmons at 10/3. Interestingly, Dwayne Bravo is at 4/1 and he is going to be my tip for top batsman after his 60+ unbeaten performance against India- and that's on top of taking four wickets. Performances like Bravo's are what twenty20 cricket is all about and if he can duplicate that performance, England will be in trouble. Paddy Power offers live betting for all of these twenty20 fixtures and I can certainly see backing the opening batsman to go out after they reach 25 or so. If England bat first, I would back Bopara to hit anywhere under 30 and then wait until Kevin Pietersen gets past five runs and then back him to get close to 40 or so. Live betting on batsmen is usually safer if they're batting first, so keep this in mind if you're wagering in-play. West Indies are 4/5 to score the most sixes while England are 6/4. This is another bet that favours those batting last. I think England should have enough to take care of the West Indies- they've had their number all summer. This one could certainly be tough, but my confidence in England to defend a medium-sized total has been restored- and that could make the difference.
