ENGLAND WORLD CUP ODDS DROP TO 7/1

That was probably one of the nerviest England matches in a generation, as the English team did just enough to get through to the next level of the 2010 World Cup. A 1-0 result managed to do the trick and it really should have been at least two nil and the haunting image of Wayne Rooney two seconds after he put that sitter off the post will live long as a defining moment of this World Cup.

England now look back in the hunt to win this thing and I think the logic is that they could the team that starts terribly and then goes on to win the competition similar to how Italy pulled it off last year. They just scraped into the group stage and had to get a 90th minute dive to secure the penalty that beat Australia.
Argentina and Brazil are the current betting favourites and they're both currently priced at 4/1 with popular UK bookmaker Blue Square.
Spain started as the initial favourites and have dropped to 11/2, that's a better price than they've been trading at for most of the year, so those who have waited to back Spain are enjoying a nice premium.
England trade at 7/1 and the price may fluctuate over the next 24 hours as the volume may increase significantly now that we have qualified as group winners.
Holland are definitely in the hunt at 8/1 while Germany trade at 9/1. That's a tidy price on the Germans.
The interesting outside bet is definitely Uruguay, who I had previously tipped to outperform expectations at this World Cup. They are listed at 20/1 now and were initially trading around 100/1. They seem to have the right recipe- a stingy keeper, an organized defence and a strike force who are scoring for fun. They're a great each-way shout at Blue Square- you can get 1/2 odds on a team to finish top 2.
Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal are listed at 20/1 while Italy are trading at 22/1. If you think the Italians can defend their title, then you're ready to go at that price. The Americans, just through to the next round, will be priced around 50/1.
