It goes without saying that Manchester United are still well out of it and unlikely to even muster up a European place this season without somehow being able to win the Champions League. With David Moyes complete cock-up in mid-week against Manchester City, it now appears to be yet another case of two steps forward and two steps back.
This week United take on the likes of Aston Villa and remain the considerable favourites to get the outright result in front of their home fans. The bookmakers have them as short as 4/9 for the victory while you will find the Birmingham club priced around 7/1 for the shock (or not so shock) victory.
Either way, look out for a few more interesting chapters still to unfold in the David Moyes saga, though it remains likely that he will at the very least see out the term as United manager. There still isn’t a complete fan revolt - yet - but if they crash out 8-0 to Bayern Munich over two legs (and that is not entirely out of the question) then you might see things get very interesting very quick.
The real feature contest of the weekend is the widely-anticipated Arsenal vs Manchester City fixture to cap things off on Saturday. City are considered to be the very strong favourites for this one with Arsenal looking a bit out of sorts recently - as they are usually found around this time of year despite a promising start.
