English Premier League Betting Tips Pt 2
- By A.J. Ryder on January 28, 2014 16:31 GMTDefensive mistakes have been what has really cost Manchester United and they have given up goals at key moments several times this season. It certainly didn’t used to be that way, but with Rio Fedinand and Nemanja Vidic showing their ages a bit more there has been a struggle to fill the gap with the type of consistency that pairing used to offer up on a match by match basis.

The bookmakers favor a 2-0 scoreline to United and that’s priced at 6.5, with a 1-0 win paying out at 7.5. It’s clear they expect this one to be pretty close but it’s worth noticing that a United scoreline of 4-0 pays a mere 12.0.
Cardiff have been conceding a lot of goals lately so it’s worth backing United to put a good lot past them. Their best chance is to take advantage of a lack of organization during set pieces and they also know how to score goals by headers so it could pay off during in-play next scorer wagers.
Juan Mata is priced at 6.0 to score the first goal of the match and there are probably a few people who will be lumping a bit of dosh on that one - especially once you see his name listed in the starting line-up. If you can get on before then, he is definitely worth looking at for that bet although it’s probably a lot more likely if you can get on him to score anytime instead.
Mata is a great goalscorer, but he’s also adept at bringing others into play and creating chances. Having him around, particularly in his first match, may not see him grab the first goal but he definitely will open up chances for whomever he’s starting alongside. They may be the best option - particularly if a player like Januzaj gets the start. He is 7.0 to score first.
It will be interesting to see how the presence of Mata affects the likes of Shinji Kagawa and Ashley Young. Both are available at 9.0 to score first but, obviously, you want to back them only when their names are actually on the team sheet - something that is definitely not guaranteed right now.
A win won’t move United up in the table but it will put them in a position to vault back into the champions league reckoning in the following set of fixtures, particularly with Liverpool and Everton facing off today as well.
