Things got very interesting early on with Southampton’s surge up the table and, though the south coasters were able to put together a fine season with manager Ronald Koeman surely the manager of the year, they will be playing in the Europa League next year not the much-vaunted Champions League that many had hoped they would be able to pull off. This, after selling much of their top quality team from the year before, when many actually and them tipped to struggle for the majority of the season.
Chelsea were able to win the league relatively easily and got it done by a good distance with the top four looking as familiar as ever with Manchester City in second, Arsenal a very good third and Manchester United achieving their stated goal of Champions League qualification, despite leaving it a bit later than they would have really liked to, all things considered.
The final relegation spot remains open and it is more than likely to be Hull City that go down but there is still the possibility of Newcastle making the drop if they fail to win at home and Hull are able to beat Manchester United. While the Magpies certainly face a slightly easier team on paper, Manchester United have nothing really to play for and Louis Van Gaal may opt for an experimental side.
Newcastle are considered the odds-on favourites to win the match - which is something they have not been able to do in quite a while. They trade as the 4/5 favourites for the outright result here while West Ham can be backed at a solid 7/2. That’s not a half-bad wager on Sam Allardyce’s men and you can bank on them being able to give West Ham a very tough time.
