- By A.J. Ryder on May 22, 2015 19:21 GMTOne possibly fascinating subplot would be Hull being ahead at Manchester City and Andy Carroll scoring a late goal to send Newcastle down. Imagine the headlines after that one. Certainly the Newcastle faithful will be in full voice but the protests against owner Mike Ashley continue to grow with a sit-in protest scheduled for the match on Sunday as they seek to force him out.

Hull City go into their match-up against United with a 9/4 price tag making them a very plausible winner - much more so than you would normally see in a mid-season fixture. Manchester United are a 6/5 margin to get the victory and that’s an interesting price that doesn’t show a huge amount of confidence from the bookmakers. Look for the draw around 5/2 but there is every chance here that United start with James Wilson and some emerging players.
There is still much to play for in the race for fifth spot with three different teams all in the mix for the guaranteed Europa League place and a much longer summer vacation, to boot. There are still a few variations on how everything shapes up depending on who manages to win the FA Cup. For instance, if Arsenal win the FA Cup they have obviously already qualified for the Champions League so the fifth and sixth place finishers would enjoy automatic entry into the group stages of the Europa League.
Southampton have one of the trickier draws of the eligible sides and they can be backed at a lengthy 5/1 against the likes of Manchester City. The Citizens are available at a 4/7 price tag and have been done in by teams like this throughout the season and they don’t really have a huge amount to play for right now either, truth be told. Southampton have plenty of motivation and they have proven that they can tangle with the best of the best so expect them to give City a real run for their money.
It would be quite a statement for them to be able to pull off fifth place and it will surely help the clubs budget and the ability to attract new players over the summer - proven international players.
Liverpool are away to Stoke City - never an easy fixture - and you’ll find them trading at a 6/5 margin to get the victory and do their best to finish in that coveted fifth place position. The Reds have some controversy going on now with the potential departure of Raheem Sterling as many of the fans seem to be turning against him. The Potters trade at a 23/10 margin here while the draw sits at 5/2.
