United trade at an 11/4 price tag to win the Premier League and third favourite isn’t usually where you’re going to find the defending champions this early in the season. One might expect that the price on United may drop if they can get a result against Chelsea and make a statement here early - in fact you might even see the bookmakers install them and City at identical prices if the Citizens don’t slip up this week either.
At this point in time they are the only three teams genuinely in the mix for the English Premier League title as the odds then take a big jump to 18/1 for Arsenal while Liverpool can be backed at a 20/1 listing. Spurs are a 25/1 shot and look like a cheeky long shot play, particularly if they can pull off a massive signing or two before the end of the season.
Arsenal fans will probably be taking a look at that 18/1 if they really want to put their money where their mouth is, whether it comes from a managerial change or reinforcements brought in from Real Madrid.
Everton are a lengthy 400/1 while Aston Villa now trade at 500/1 to win the Premier League. The longest shot on the board is a cool 10,000/1 on Crystal Palace.
