English Premier League Preview and Ladbrokes Bonus
- By A.J. Ryder on December 14, 2013 09:29 GMTThere’s a few solid fixtures kicking off in the English Premier League on Saturday and Sunday with Manchester United facing a must-win fixture away to Aston Villa and also facing the prospect of a month without star striker Robin Van Persie who returned earlier this month and didn’t look entirely fit - now it appears he has aggravated that injury and will require more time on the sidelines.

While United do have options up front, being without Van Persie when they have already drifted down to ninth place - ninth place in December - just puts David Moyes ears even closer to the fire amongst the United faithful. With a six year contract backing up Moyes, it appears as though the United management are in for the long haul with him and it would take something quite poor for Moyes’ contract to be terminated.
At this point, however, anything appears to be possible.
The big clash this Saturday is the early fixture between Manchester City and Arsenal with the host side coming in as the distinct 4/5 favourites against the Gunners. It would do City’s title hopes a world of good as the match is effectively a six pointer - the host side are just six points off the North London-based leaders.
Arsenal have cooled off a bit lately but are still holding their own at the top of the league in December. For those who think they can get the better of City here, then you’ve got a good price to tuck into with 7/2 being floated at the moment.
In big matches like this there is always a chance that the two offensive sides might just cancel each other out and a tame 0-0 draw would be in the cards, Ladbrokes is refunding all losing correct score bets if a Premier League fixture finishes 0-0. That’s not a bad wager in this type of match - particularly if you don’t see City going for it early on. They will refund up to a maximum of £25.

Chelsea face off against Crystal Palace and they are widely considered to be the biggest favourites of the weekend with a slim 1/5 price tag but you definitely reckon there will be a few punters having a bash on Palace at 16/1 as stranger things have happened this season and Chelsea seem capable of dropping points to anybody if they don’t show up.
United are a 17/20 shot against Aston Villa, who are 7/2 and play at home in this one. You reckon that if they score first they might be able to hold United off if Moyes can’t make another important substitute like he did in the Champions League in midweek.
Following that one we’ve got Tottenham vs Liverpool in a very close match that has Spurs as the slim 6/4 favourites with a draw at 2/1 and Liverpool at a 21/10 margin. Look for Spurs to finally come out and do their best to make a big statement here, because a win against this resurgent Liverpool side would definitely a feather in Andre Villas Boas’ hat. He is under pressure right now and the longer he can hang around the title race - the better he is going to look.
Cardiff vs West Brom looks to be the closest match up with the Welsh side at 17/10, the draw at 21/10 and West Brom at a 9/5 margin.
