You can expect some interesting twists and turns as we go forward but one of the pleasant things about betting on relegation markets is that they typically will involve one side so deep in the relegation mire that several bookmakers actually pay out early on them to go down.
This year there is no really discernable outright favourite for the drop but you’ll notice several sides all in the mix to be lining up against Championship sides next year.
Crystal Palace have had a very difficult season so far, even after spending a considerable amount of money in the transfer window during the summer. They are considered to be the slim favourites for the drop this time around but it’s tricky to make that consideration now since they had previously established themselves as a competitive mid-table side.
You’re left wondering whether this is merely a poor start or a symbol that the side are actually having bigger problems than what you’re seeing played out on the pitch.
As it currently stands, Palace are trading as high as a 10/11 price to drop through the trapdoor down to the Championship next year but the vast majority of bookmakers seem to have them floated around a ⅚ margin.
