Arsenal are in a very interesting predicament with another match on Wednesday against West Ham - two matches in the space of three days - and both against cross-town rivals as well.
Things are starting to get particularly interesting on the bottom end of the table with Harry Redknapp’s QPR side looking like they might be capable of actually getting off the bottom and doing some damage against higher-quality opposition. They have brought in Loic Remy, a transfer coup if you’ve ever heard of one, and look to be set to close at least a few more deals before the end of the transfer window.
Newcastle have begun getting dangerously close to the relegation zone - a far cry from the heights they achieved last season around this time of year. Alan Pardew’s men must start stringing results together and actually produce consistent performances. With Demba Ba gone to Chelsea, this is going to be an especially difficult scenario.
Wigan are in their perennial spot just hovering around the drop-zone while Aston Villa find themselves two-off the bottom in that third relegation spot - level on points with Wigan but behind on goal difference.
This time of year is when things get interesting in the relegation race - it’s tough to forget about Reading too.
