While there are no real blockbuster barnburner fixtures set to unfold we do have a number of match-ups that will likely be fascinating and we reckon a few interesting betting opportunities should develop along the way.
Spurs take on Liverpool in the opener and this is probably the only match-up that features two teams this evenly matched. The fixture bears the distinction of being the debut for new Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp who took over from the beleaguered Brendan Rodgers a week or so ago after the Kop brass realized that he just wasn’t the man to get real results - he was forever talking about tomorrow.
Spurs get the slim edge here from the bookmakers who have them trading at a 7/4 price tag while you’ll find Liverpool priced at a 15/8 margin. It’s going to be interesting to see how the odds shift around for this one during the build-up to the match and with things so nip and tuck in terms of prices we could certainly see this one going off, potentially, with Liverpool as the outright betting favourites to get the job done here - what a start that would be.
Chelsea then take on Aston Villa in a match that really shouldn’t be considered a “must win” but if Jose Mourinho’s men are dropping points at Stamford Bridge to Aston freaking Villa then you really would have to assume that the temperature around Jose Mourinho will go close to boiling. The Blues are considerable favourites at the moment and you’ll find them trading at a 3/10 margin while Villa are a 17/2 shout for the big away victory.
