ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE SUNDAY BETTING TIPS
There are two Premier League games taking place on Sunday, one should certainly get the pulse racing the other, well, probably won’t. No points for guessing which is which but here’s the betting low down....
The day gets underway with Wolves’ trip to St. Andrews to take on Birmingham. Unsurprisingly Birmingham are the big favourites for this one given that they’ve only lost one in their last 17 in all competitions, but recent comments from Alex McLeish regarding major summer signings may have thrown a spanner in the works. The players that have helped McLeish and Birmingham scale the dizzy heights of the Premier League could quickly become surplus to requirements in the summer if you read between the lines of the managers recent transfer talk and that may just irk one or two of their players, for that reason I’d advise a small stakes lay of Birmingham at the 1.9 on offer at Betfair.
I am also fairly taken in by the Over/Under 2.5 goals market, “it’s 0-0 at St. Andrews” must surely have been one of the most commonly uttered phrases this season on football score reporting programmes. Also given that no team in the league have scored fewer than Wolves this season I would say that this has to be a prime opportunity to back under 2.5 goals at 1.7 on Betfair.
Later on in the day attentions will turn to Stamford Bridge and the recently shunned England captain. How much John Terry’s extracurricular activities might have affected his Chelsea team is as yet unclear, but a narrow win against Burnley and a draw at Hull are hardly votes of confidence. Because of that I would be willing to take a chance on Arsenal, 3.7 on the away side in the ‘Draw no Bet’ market comes with an element of caution attached and looks to be the best place to take advantage of a potentially downbeat Chelsea.
If you think that Terry will answer his critics by putting in a performance on the pitch then you could either back him at 8/1 to be named the man of the match with Ladbrokes, or at 9.0 for him to score at anytime in the game with Betfair. But perhaps Betfair’s 3.2 on him being shown a card has more credence, I certainly wouldn’t want to cross his path this weekend.
