ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE TIPS FOR FEBRUARY 6
Team Bridge follows in Team Terry’s footsteps, a Merseyside derby, a six-pointer at Turf Moor and two debt-ridden clubs come to loggerheads in an otherwise rather innocuous Saturday in the Premier League.
Kicking off the day’s action is Liverpool versus Everton and both teams will fancy their chances of taking all three points. Liverpool have looked a little more assured in recent games, but then again so have Everton after a stuttering start to their own season. Although Liverpool are unbeaten in six league games, until they put a series of wins together in succession I won’t believe that their season has turned around and will continue to oppose them at odds on prices. It may be a bit much to suggest backing Everton at 5.0 (4/1) but a lay of Liverpool at 1.9 (10/11) has to be taken advantage of.
Hull managed to put a dent in Chelsea’s title challenge in midweek by snatching a point and now Manchester City visit the KC Stadium in search of a win. Can lightening strike twice and Hull pull off another unlikely result? I don’t think so and although the point in midweek was a welcome bonus, Phil Brown’s attentions will be fully focused on a midweek game against Blackburn and City can take advantage. Back City to win at 1.8 (4/5) with Betfair.
Football can be so unfair at times, spiralling debts at Portsmouth have brought the threat of relegation, administration and ultimately collapse whilst £700million of debt at Manchester United has lead to three consecutive Premier League titles with the realistic possibility of a fourth one on the way. Although the Pompey players continue to put in gutsy performances their lack of composure in front of goal has been their downfall, the best angle of attack on this one is to back ‘Any Unquoted’ in Betfair’s correct score market at 3.1 (85/40).
Brian Laws needs to get his first win as Burnley manager and he needs to get it very soon. They haven’t looked to have the same bight to their play since manager Owen Coyle left for Bolton and this relegation six-pointer against West Ham is as big as they come. Gianfranco Zola will have a new look strike force at his disposal for the trip to Turf Moor and I fancy they might be the difference between the sides. Back Mido to score @ 3.5 (5/2) and Back Benni McCarthy to score @ 3.2 (11/5) with Betfair.
It promises to be another action packed weekend in the English Premier League and will no doubt raise more questions than answers, after all that is why we love it so.
