The bookmakers certainly haven’t lost all of their faith in the young Englishman and they have him listed as a 14/1 shot to win the Premier League Golden Boot in the 2016/2017 season. Some books have decided to float him at around 16/1 and it is a strong indication of his talent that he is considered to be the fourth favourite to secure the Golden Boot despite having an underwhelming season last time out when so much was expected of him.
Alexis Sanchez winning the Premier League Golden Boot would certainly be music to the ears of Arsenal fans and the Chilean sensation certainly has the talent to be able to pull this off but it’s a big question about whether he’s going to get enough service from his teammates to be able to put up the numbers significant enough to really make things work out.
The bookmakers seem to be totally baffled about just how likely Sanchez is to actually win the award since some bookmakers have him trading as the de facto third favourite with a price of about 12/1 while others have him listed as high as 20/1 to score more goals than anyone else.
Sanchez proved last year that he has what it takes to make an impression in the Premier League in front of goal but Arsenal simply have so many players who can score 10-12 goals a season that Sanchez is unlikely to see the bulk of the finishing go through his path. He is much more of a playmaker forward than an out-and-out striker and this is likely to work against him.
Eden Hazard has consistently ranked as one of the best overall players in the Premier League, and even the world, and he is in the mix here as well but the whole issue with him is similar to Sanchez in that he scores a fair amount but he’s also in charge of setting up other players and this will likely work against him as he seeks to grab the Premier League Golden Boot. He’s trading at either a 16/1 or a 20/1 price tag right now and looks good value.
Manchester United’s new signing Memphis Depay is the real wildcard in this market and he’s trading at either 16/1 or 20/1 right now.
