- By A.J. As the two-way battle at the top of the league starts to become more of a three-way battle with Manchester United winning six matches on the trot (including fixtures against arch-rivals Liverpool and Arsenal), their odds have dropped from around 33.0 to 12.0 in that period. Chelsea dropping points has made things even more fascinating as they are battling on four fronts right now and will need to keep their momentum going.
Manchester City are without Sergio Aguero for a few weeks but still look to be playing some good football and we can expect them to push Chelsea even harder in the coming weeks and months.
City get things kicked off in the league this weekend as they take on Crystal Palace in the noon-time fixture on Saturday. They go into the match as the logical favourites and actually rank as the most likely favourite of the entire weekend. The bookmakers currently have them trading at a 1.30 margin for the outright win in front of their fans at home. The draw is sitting at 5.50 while Crystal Palace to pull off what would be a very famous victory can be backed at a 9.50 margin right now.
A number of matches then kick off at 3 pm and you can expect the Aston Villa vs Manchester United match to be the most watched fixture of the set. With no real marquee clashes - but several nice-looking contests unfolding on Sunday - this one will also see a huge amount of betting volume.
Punters will find Manchester United trading at a solid 1.57 for the away victory - this will likely make them a very popular selection on accumulator tickets for Saturday and even leading into Sunday. There is a lot to like about how they have been playing lately and it remains a fact that Aston Villa have been a bit up-and-down this season and have underwhelmed as (pretty much) always.
