English Premier League Weekend Action PT 1

While there is a whole slew of quality football action to take in on Saturday, there are two games on Sunday and a very interesting-looking fixture on Monday to take advantage of in the English Premier League. With things getting very interesting at the top of the table, and the Christmas/holiday fixture list being one of the big turning points of the season, traditionally, we can expect a lot of action this weekend so we’ll be examining the Sunday and Monday games in depth here to get a look at how things might just shape up.

Newcastle take on Sunderland in the Tyne/Wear Derby - a fixture that is always exciting and gets the locals talking. It’s going to be tricky for both teams but the bookmakers seem relatively convinced that Newcastle should be able to dispose of the Black Cats with relative ease - punters will find the Magpies available at an even money price tag to take all three points from this encounter.

Newcastle have definitely been punching above their weight a bit this year - a sharp contrast toy earlier in the season when Alan Pardew was under an immense amount of pressure. You reckon that Sam Allardyce and him have had a relatively similar occurrence this season with the pressure looking on earlier only for their traditionally mid-table sides to now be fighting it out in the upper echelons of the Premier League itself.

The Black Cats can be backed at a 4.0 listing for the outright win while the draw is trading at a 3.4 price that will likely attract a fair amount of neutral punters. Plenty of fans will be tuning in to watch this one and, with a big fixture coming up next, the betting volume could be considerable as punters will want to build up their stacks to wager on the exciting prospect of Liverpool and Arsenal both needing a win next up.

Liverpool vs Arsenal is a fascinating encounter as both teams are under-performing at the moment, Liverpool to a larger degree than Arsene Wenger’s men. Both sides are outside of the top four and will really need to put the after burners on if they are going to be able to successfully chase down a Champions League spot next year.
