English Premier League Weekend Betting Tips Part 2

It’s going to take a huge performance from Wigan’s defense and midfield if they’re going to keep Bale contained and their strikers will have to get the job done in front of goal. Look for them to sneak one in the first 20 minutes - perhaps from a set piece - and see how Spurs respond.

Gareth Bale comes into the match as the outright favourite to grab an anytime goal and he’s trading at 6/5 to pull off another major strike. Spurs will want all three points from this so expect them to perhaps keep some of their firepower on the bench. They will be trying to keep players fresh for other more difficult fixtures.

Punters will have to wait until Monday to see if Aston Villa can match whatever result Wigan come away with. The pressure will be off for a bit if Wigan don’t take any points from Spurs, but if they do manage to take all three points, then they would draw level on points but would still be down on goal difference unless they won by a three goal margin - rather unlikely against Spurs.

They play host to Sunderland at home and the bookmakers are backing Villa at 6/5 to pull off the victory. With their recent record, and Sunderland’s ability to pull off a shock result or two themselves, you would almost say that 6/5 is a bit too short. Sure, Villa have everything to play for but Sunderland are not mathematically safe themselves either.

Newcastle, Stoke or Sunderland could be relegated if they fail to pick up any points in the next four matches and Wigan manage to run the table and win all of them.

A loss here for Sunderland would be disappointing considering they have really looked a better side since signing the controversial manager Paulo Di Canio. Look for Sunderland at a hefty 21/10 to pull off a significant victory that would more or less guarantee their survival and signify the dawn of an entirely new era under Di Canio next season.
