English Premier League Weekend Preview Part 1

We’ve got another stellar line-up of fixtures ahead of us this weekend as the English Premier League is back on schedule after the third round of FA Cup action. A number of top teams are now facing replays in the coming weeks but most of them will be keen to get the Premier League campaign underway once again as the quest for points begins once again.

One of the big aspects of wagering in January is keeping your eye on which sides are bringing in new players who may have an instant impact. Many of the lower-profile sides who are battling relegation will be looking to add some steely veterans who have kept teams up in the past. Keep your eyes peeled on the transfer summaries every morning and every evening as we get closer to the weekend. This is particularly exacerbated for sides towards the bottom of the table.

Speaking of bottom of the table, QPR face off against Spurs in the first match of the weekend. The bookmakers have priced Rangers at a hefty 16/5 margin in order to get the outright result and they’ll be up against it here despite some games starting to go their way. The task of dealing with Spurs is never an easy one but you can expect them to at least come out here and go for the win in front of the home fans.

The 12/5 draw is probably a much better idea for those looking to bet against Spurs. Punters will find them trading at an odds-on listing of 4/5. With the arrival of Wesley Sneijder looking more likely by the day, expect that price to take some late action - 3/5 wouldn’t be a big surprise.

Norwich will fancy themselves against Newcastle and the betting lines on this one are a clear indication that the bookmakers really think it could go either way. The Canaries can be backed at 23/20 while the draw trades at 23/10, Newcastle are a lengthy 11/5 for the away victory they sorely need to stabilize their drop following their early season form.

Sunderland are at 6/5 to get the win against West Ham and you would expect the Hammers to take some money here following their crafty draw against United - a match that many will argue should have ended West Ham’s way. Look for the Hammers at a 21/10 price tag while the draw can be backed at 23/10. The Black Cats are perhaps a bit too short at that price and you reckon plenty will be attempting to beat them and get the big price with West Ham.
