Both Manchester United and Liverpool can be backed at prices of 15.0 and that’s a far cry for United from where they used to be at the start of the season. Even last year they were considered one of the top candidates to retain their English Premier League title. The big issue right now is that their odds were only 6.5 even after losing on opening day to a quality Swansea side that made much easier work of United than many would initially assume.
You get the feeling that after a few victories - if they ever come - United will get their momentum back and start to move forward. Many are already speculating that this will likely require a shift back to 4-3-3 instead of the Van Gaal’s preferred 3-5-2 formation. The key issue seems to be that the defense aren’t adventurous enough at bringing the ball out which keeps the wing-backs in a defensive position.
United have been effectively operating as a 5-3-2.
Spurs looked very good in their match-up this weekend and they looked to get some good performances out of their recent signings. The momentum will continue to build at White Hart Lane but they remain firmly out of the race for the English Premier League title and would likely do well to secure a Champions League place at the end of the season. You’ll find Spurs trading at a 41.0 price tag right now and that will probably drop if they continue to win and the likes of United continue to turn in very underwhelming performances.
Everton are trading at 201.0 and are in the hunt for European football this year, but definitely not the title. Newcastle are an interesting 1001.0 shot and well ahead of the likes of Swansea who trade at 2001.0.
Burnley are the longest shot on the board at a full 10001.0 to win the English Premier League.
