It might seem like a two-horse race at the moment but the chasing pack could wind up catching them very quickly as there is lots of talent in those sides - particularly after the close of the English Premier League transfer window.
As it currently stands, punters will find Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea side trading at an odds-on price of 1.80 to win the Premier League this season. That comes on the heels of Manchester City’s slip-up last week to a side that they really should have beaten. While Chelsea haven’t exactly run away with every game they have played, the side continue to look steady and they have a great chance to push things all the way if their side stay healthy and they continue to play the type of organized football that we are seeing currently.
Manchester City were considered the outright favourites to win for much of the pre-season but now they have slipped back to a 3.10 margin - which will likely appeal to both their fans and a lot of neutral punters as well. City have so much quality in the side and if Chelsea go on a bad run you will likely see their price drop considerably.
The odds then take a pretty considerable jump to Liverpool - not usually considered to be your third favourite for Premier League glory - at an 11.0 margin. That’s a solid price but you really do get the feeling that they are pushing on for a Champions League place and are unlikely to replicate their dramatic late-season push from last year. It’s an exciting prospect for Liverpool fans but the fact remains that they will need to stay organized and get results against the big teams if they really expect to pull off a dramatic victory.
