ENGLISH PREMIERSHIP LATEST BETTING TIPS FOR WEDNESDAY
After a Tuesday night involving a number of the relegation battlers Wednesday evening is the turn of the Premier League big boys. Each of the top four have tough games on a night which could turn out to be a very good one for anyone who can get a victory on the board.
Manchester United seem to have hit their stride in recent weeks scoring 15 in their last four league games but come up against a very tough and resilient Aston Villa outfit tonight. Villa have lost just twice against teams who currently reside in the top half of the table showing that they are no flat-track bullies and are also the only team to go to Old Trafford and win a Premier League game this season. It’s a tough one to call and you could make an argument to back or lay either side and for that reason I’ll be staying clear of the match odds betting. Although United and Wayne Rooney in particular are steam rolling teams at present, Villa have kept four clean sheets in a row in the league and are experts at keeping games tight. Under 2.5 goals is available to back on Betfair at 1.8 (4/5) and looks the stand out bet of the evening.
Chelsea will be hoping that they can extend their lead at the top if Villa do manage to hold Rooney & Co. at bay, but they also face a tough trip to Goodison Park. Everton are the only side to come away from Stamford Bridge with any points this season and last weekend’s league defeat against Liverpool was their first loss in 10 meaning this is another one where I would avoid the match odds betting. With Didier Drogba back in the side Chelsea are looking a formidable attacking force and I fancy him to add to his three goals in two games since his return from African Cup of Nations duty, he is 2.5 (6/4)with Betfair to get his name in the score sheet.
Hull have thrown more than a spanner in the works of proceedings toward the top of the Premier League over the last week, but they must have had this game against Blackburn earmarked as the most important of the three. The points gained against Chelsea and Manchester City mean that there is not so much pressure on this one and that will work to their advantage. A win would put them a point behind Blackburn and at least five clear of the relegation zone but I think that Phil Brown would settle for a draw if you asked him before kick-off. At 1.9 (10/11) Blackburn have to be worth taking on with a lay meaning we would collect if Hull win or the game ends in a draw.
Finally, we’ll take a look at the game at Upton Park where Birmingham are the visitors to the new home of their previous owners. David Sullivan spoke out this week about asking the players to take a pay cut at the end of the season, a point which Gianfranco Zola and many others agreed was mistimed and counterproductive to the Hammers’ Premier League survival chances. It certainly won’t help them here against a Birmingham side that have now lost just once in 15 Premier League games and the 3.7 (11/4) price tag for them to win this game is extremely disrespectful to that form and should be backed.
There is a short break from Premier League action for most teams after tonight’s action and psychologically these games could have a big baring on the rest of the season.
