English Premiership Top Scorer Betting Tips
Pacey hitman Fernando Torres leads the Ladbrokes odds on securing the title of the English Premier League's Top Goalscorer. The Liverpool striker has been banging them in all season and he looks to be good value listed at 5/2. Although the action from the weekend indicates that Dirk Kuyt may also find himself to be the focal point of the Liverpool attack, I'm willing to wager that Torres takes Kuyt's brace as a warning that he is going to have to step up another gear in order to secure the coveted title. It doesn't look like Cristiano Ronaldo is in the rich vein of form he was in last season in front of goal. While he notched a strike in the romp over West Brom at the weekend, his injury-plagued start to the season may undo his ability to score another 40 goals. Ferguson even admits that he may not be playing at full form at this point in time anyway. Ladbrokes has the winker listed at 7/1 alongside the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor and, oddly enough, Jermaine Defoe. Wigan's Wunderkind Amr Zaki is now listed at 8/1, and while that may entice the Egyptian audience, I don't think he will top the charts come the end of the season. Nicholas Anelka is listed at a long 20/1 alongside Dimitar Berbatov. For me, the value is in Wayne Rooney. He is in the richest form of his life and has been banging them in from all angles. If Rooney stays healthy all season, I can't see any reason why he wouldn't be able to secure the title of leading goalscorer, especially if he continues to be deployed all over the park, not isolated in a lone striker's role. Back Wayne Rooney as Premier League leading scorer at Ladbrokes at 16/1.
