EURO 2012 GROUP DRAW AND BETTING ODDS

It seems a bit redundant for us to be covering the odds for the 2012 Euro Football Tournament when we're still a few months off from the 2010 World Cup, but regardless the draw was held this morning and Fabio Capello's men were given another very helpful group.
England are the only home nation that was seeded in the draw and they will face off in Group G against Switzerland, Bulgaria, Montenegro and Wales. England are listed at a slim 2/5 to win their group and I consider that easy money- who's going to beat them out of that group? The Welsh, on their day, could maybe muster a tame 1-1 draw if England played absolutely pants, while Switzerland are probably their best competition but they lack impact players and marquee names. Switzerland are 5/1 to win Group G.
Germany are the heavy favourites to win Group A, trading at 1/3 and they face stiff competition from their rivals Turkey (that should be a cracking fixture) while Austria and Belgium will be doing their best to fit into the equation.
The Republic of Ireland are drawn against Russia and will need to dispose of the Russians if they are looking to avoid another play-off horror-show. They are 4/1 to win their group while Russia trade at 2/5. For me, the wildcard is how Ireland handle Slovakia- the only other remotely difficult team in their group.
Northern Ireland face a tough group that includes Italy, Serbia and Slovenia. They are listed at 12/1 to top their group, although the Norn Irish have given Italy trouble in recent years. This could be a blessing in disguise.
The Spanish are a very short 1/8 to win their group against the Czech Republic and Scotland. The Scotch are trading at 12/1 to top that group, but will need some big results to get through to the play-offs.
In terms of the outright betting there looks to be about six teams with a genuine shot at winning the tournament. Spain go in as the 5/1 favourites, having conquered the last Euro tournament. Germany are considered very strong contenders at 6/1 while the Italians always thrive in situations like these and you'll find them at 7/1 alongside the Netherlands. England can be backed at 15/2 while France are trading at 9/1. Portugal is 12/1 while Russia aren't a bad dark-horse bet at 16/1. Croatia, Ukraine and Turkey all trade at 20/1 while Serbia and the Czech Republic can be backed at 25/1.
Scotland and the Republic of Ireland both trade at 80/1 to win Euro 2012 and Wales can be backed at a 200/1 price. Northern Ireland are priced at 250/1 to win Euro 2012.
