If you fancy England to run away with this one you’ll do well to back them on a (-1.0) handicap at a 1.95 margin. That’s fairly solid and you’d have to expect that they will be able to put two past Slovenia. It’s also a real giveaway from the correct score odds that the bookmakers don’t really expect Slovenia to score at any point in this match.
It’s probably not a significant shock that Wayne Rooney is trading as the 4.0 favourite to score the first goal of the match and he returns to the fold for England having just come back from a suspension with Manchester United that has seen him miss a few matches - though he did acquit himself very well during the last outing, despite failing to score.
Danny Welbeck, who has cooled off in his recent performances in Arsenal colours, is trading at a 4.5 margin to score the first strike of the match while the real wild card remains Saido Berahino who has just been called up to the England squad and might be able to make a real impact here. Though he has a great opportunity to find the back of the net if he’s given a few chances, it’s best to remember that a player like this should be backed to score first only after you’ve seen the team sheets prior to the match.
Berahino trades at a competitive 5.0 price tag to score the opening score of the fixture for England on debut.
Rickie Lambert has not been in great form at club level during the past few months but he still trades at a 6.0 price tag to open the scoring. If you’re going to be looking for a longer odds selection, you’d probably do well to back Raheem Sterling - who would enjoy a good performance in an England jersey - and he’s also priced out at a 6.0 margin and looking a good value play to score first.
