EUROVISION 2010 LATEST ODDS SHOW LENA MEYER-LANDRUT NEARLY EVEN WITH SAFURA ALIZADEH
After yesterday's second Eurovision semi-final we've seen a fair amount of movement in the odds market, just as I had predicted. My original assumption was that Safura Alizadeh's odds would either drop substantially or start to drift upwards- prompting a drop in price for German contender Lena Meyer-Landrut.
This is more or less what's happened with Azerbaijan increasing in price with top UK bookmaker William Hill. The odds have drifted upwards from 7/4 and now trade at 9/4.
Germany's odds have dropped from 9/2 to 3/1 and I think we could see the odds start to trend downwards as many German punters begin to pile on. I think that Lena Meyer-Landrut could have the momentum right now.
Armenia's entry Eva Rivas has mounted an impressive late charge and we've seen her odds cut in half over the past few days. She had been trading as high as the mid-teens last week and now she's boasting a 6/1 price and is the clear favourite to finish in third place.
Israel's Harel Skaat has held firm at 10/1 and doesn't look to be a winning contender but should be strongly-backed for a top 5 finish. Turkey's maNga are priced at 12/1 with Denmark's Chanee & N'evergreen listed at 16/1.
The odds drift for Azerbaijan hasn't been as significant as some would have thought and it's important to remember that Safura is still a solid favourite to win this thing. In fact, anybody with a substantial amount of cash on her already should probably take advantage of the price increase as it hasn't been dramatic enough to really put anybody off backing her. I think this one is a lot more open than last year's was and I expect the price fluctuations to continue over the next 24 hours.
