EUROVISION 2010 LATEST ODDS SHOW SAFURA ALIZADE AND LENA MEYER-LANDRUT AS FAVOURITES
The open betting market for Eurovision 2010 on Betfair is one of the best ways to gauge the winner of the contest- especially in these early stages. With the betting volume increasing every single day, the odds have taken plenty of interesting swings since the market was created a few weeks ago. Last week, several top European bookmakers declared that Germany's Lena Meyer-Landrut was the clear favourite to win 2010 Eurovision. Those odds appear to be holding, but the Betfair layers have placed Azerbaijan's Safura Alizade right alongside her German counterpart as 5.0 co-favourites.
Alizade had been a force to be reckoned with since the odds were originally announced with her and the Israeli Harel Skaat initially considered to be the top contenders. Skaat is now listed at around 9.6 or so, definitely in the equation, but the big story is still Meyer-Landrut's massive price drop from 16.0 to 5.0 over the past week or so.
Armenia trades at 15.5 and they are definitely contenders for a top 4 finish and well-positioned to finish 10. Eva Rivas is a good representative and should draw plenty of support from other nations.
Croatia have Feminnem representing them and it's looking like a 17.5 price to pull off the unlikely victory. Definitely in the reckoning for a top 10 finish though.
Denmark are looking solid and their price has dropped a bit over the past two weeks with Chanée and N'evergreen now priced at around 14.5 for the outright victory. This is another to watch for a top 4 finish.
Norway's Alexander Rybak won the contest easily last year and his countryman Didrik Solli-Tangen is priced at 19.5 to pull off the second leg of an incredible back-to-back victory for Norway. There are definitely stronger competitors though, so I don't think this is your best long-shot option.
I think that the odds posted by the top bookmakers are generally the most reliable, but Betfair's prices always give you a bit of unexpected insight. I think that Lena Meyer-Landrut is a clear favourite and once the volume on Betfair hits about $500,000 matched you will start to see some clearer pictures emerge. We'll be bringing you previews of the prices for top 4 and top 10 Eurovision betting later in the week.
