EVERTON VS. NEWCASTLE- NEWS, ODDS AND PREDICTIONS
Rewind seven days and who would have thought that I would have been writing about a Newcastle team coming off a loss to Blackpool, and an Everton XI that secured a thrilling come- from- behind draw in extra time to Manchester United.
However, the Premiership is a thrilling ride, and no more so than this weekend as teams finally begin to show their intent in challenging for the title.
In what could be possibly one of the tightest games of the weekend, the Toffees challenge the Magpies in a game that will lay down the path for how these two teams will fare the rest of this season.
David Moyes will be fuming with his current log lie, with Everton having only come away with two points from their opening four games-their worst start since 1994
That being said, the Toffees are hosting tomorrow- a huge challenge to Newcastle when considering that Everton are unbeaten in their last 14 home games in the Premier League
Everton is without Louis Saha and Jack Rodwell, while Newcastle have counted out Dan Gosling, Leon Best and Steven Taylor
Away matches have, in the past, proven to be Newcastle's Achilles heel, managing just five wins in total across their previous two seasons in the top flight- a dismal performance for a club of such stature.
All that taken into account, Everton head into this afternoon's game as odds on favourites with Bet365 putting the Toffee's at to win at 1.61, with Newcastle as long shots at 6.0
On the score prediction front there are some fantastic deals to be had with a 1-0 Everton win at 7.0, and a likely 2-1 win at 8.0
On the Newcastle end it is an absolute goldfield. If the Geordies are to play to their full capability a 1-0 win will net 15.0, while a 2-0 win in their favour will see you jumping up in delight at 34.0!
On the Everton goal scoring front Moyes will have been delighted to see the back of the net bulge three times against a top class United side, given that Everton had managed a solitary goal in their previous three league games.
This week Yakubu is favoured to score at 2.0, with the Aussie assassin Cahill at 2.25. Also take note of South African international Steven Pienaar- a steal at 4.33
Newcastle wise- no surprises in Andy Carrol topping the list. This kid is good, and if the Magpies are to find the back of the net...it will be courtesy of him. Kevin Nolan is another good shout at 4.5
All in all, this game is turning into a real humdinger, with it being a lot tighter than the odds suggest.
Newcastle boss Chris Hughton will demand an improvement after the shock loss saw his side surrender their year-long unbeaten home record.
Betting tip: Two equally confusing sides clash at Goodison where Everton are due a win, but Newcastle seem you feel need it more.
A 2-1 win to Everton
