EXETER VS NEWCASTLE-AVIVA PREMERSIP ODDS AND PREDICTIONS
Make no mistake...this is going to be a great match
These two teams have met just once before in competitive rugby: in the 4th round of the Tetley's Bitter Cup way back in '98, where the Falcons prevailed
That however accounts for nothing this weekend.
The Falcons have had a somewhat tumultuous start to the season, winning one and losing one, with all four tries scored coming from forwards- something that this Newcastle backline will want to remedy come Saturday afternoon.
Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter has named the same starting line up for the third week running in the build-up to this clash, with winger Andrew Higgins named on the bench for the first time this season, while scrum-half Junior Polu makes his way into fold the after returning from injury.
Team Lineups:
Exeter: Arscott; Sestaret, Dollman, Rennie, Foster; Steenson, Thomas; Sturgess, Clark, Tui, Hayes (capt), Hanks, Johnson, Scaysbrook, Phillips.
Replacements: Alcott, Moon, Budgen, Gannon, Slade, Poluleuligaga, Davis, Higgins.
Newcastle: Tait; Bobo, Vickerman, Eves, Amesbury; Gopperth, Young; Golding, Vickers, Ryan, Hudson (capt), Swinson, Wilson, Pennycook, Hogg.
Replacements: Brookes, Ward, Shiells, Townson, Welch, Pilgrim, Manning, Fielden.
The Falcons have made one change from the side that defeated Wasps last weekend, with Rob Vickerman replacing Andy Henderson, with Luke Eves shifting from outside to inside centre to accommodate.
The bookies are calling this game a tight one- far from the Bath vs. Northampton clash witnessed on Friday tonight.
William Hill are calling hosts Exeter as favourites at 1.8, to the Falcons 2.0 even- in line with this, the winning margin bets are also tighter than what is normally evident with a 1-5 margin win in favour of Exeter at 5.5, with a 11-15 point win at 9.0
On the try scoring end, Exeter winger Mark Foster is favourites to cross the line at some point at 3.25, with Sestaret and Andrew Higgins equally set at 3.5
For the Falcons, danger man Charlie Amesbury is tipped to open the scoring at 12.0, with ex- Springbok national Gcobani Bobo a great shout to score at any point at 3.5- probably the bet of the lot.
This will be an equal tussle, but in the greater scheme of things probably a display of the teams set to struggle this season, and possibly fight for their place in the league.
From a viewing perceptive this could be gold with this first-ever league fixture between the two clubs already being billed as a crunch encounter.
