EXTREMELY LUCRATIVE UFC 121 BETS ON THE PRELIMINARY CARD
This is easily one of the most anticipated UFC cards in a very long time as UFC 121 kicks off tomorrow in Anaheim, California. All eyes are on the heavyweight battle between Lesnar and Velasquez but the undercard, and even the preliminary card, deserve a substantial consideration if you're planning to wager on this massive event.
On the preliminary card, Sam Stout is a decent bet to topple Paul Taylor and score a victory for the Canadians. This one is a great bet to go the distance as both fighters tend to win by decision. The layers on the betting exchanges have confidence in Stout's ability to pull this one off.
The Chris Camozzi vs Dong Yang fight looks to be a real toss-up and that makes this a tricky one to bet on. South Korean Yang is undefeated from nine fights but takes a big step up in class in his first UFC fight. You'll probably remember Camozzi from the Ultimate Fighter when he was so beat up after his fight to get into the house that Dana White insisted he withdraw due to injury. Camozzi did take the victory though so it will be interesting to see how this one unfolds.
American Jon Madsen is a solid favourite to dispose of controversial Dutchman Gilbert Yvel. The exchange prices on Madsen are hovering around 1.5 and he's undefeated in UFC competition while Yvel comes in on the back of three losses from four fights. Yvel always makes for a notable fight and he had difficulty getting licensed in the past after such indiscrepancies as eye gouging, biting and punching the referee in the face. Madsen all the way here and it could be over sooner than you think.
Mike Guymon vs Daniel Roberts is a pretty close fight with both fighters coming in having won one/lost one in their last two. Roberts is a slim favourite but he's vulnerable to punches and tends to prefer deploying his grappling ability, though he can step outside the box and and fight on his feet when necessary. Guymon will probably try to make this one a slugfest and I think he gets the edge if that's how it pans out.
Patrick Cote will be looking to break his two-match losing streak as he takes on Tom Lawlor on the Spike TV undercard fights. He took a year and a half off between his past two and the French Canadian will be looking to take advantage of a sharp drop in class as Lawlor is definitely stepping up a level or two in this one. Lawlor has also lost his past two and, in fact, lost to a Canadian in his last fight as well so that's a bit of an ominous sign for the Orlando-based wrestling specialist. Cote all the way here and an All-Canadian double pays out nearly $50 from $20 if you back Cote and Sam Stout together at a bookmaker that offers parlay bets on MMA fights.
Court McGee vs Ryan Jensen is the other Spike TV bout and McGee comes in as the heavy favourite here. There is a fascinating subplot here with a UFC rookie coming in off the Ultimate Fighter taking on a seasoned veteran. While many think McGee's submission skills will likely make the difference, it is worth keeping in mind that he has the ability to win with strikes as well. Don't expect this one to take too long as the last three of Jensen's fights have ended in the first round.
