FA Cup Betting Analysis

The Worlds most famous domestic cup competition rolls into its eagerly anticipated third round this weekend and I can see Fergies Red Devils regaining what was unluckily wrestled away from them last year by beating all on their way to Wembley glory for an unprecedented twelfth FA Cup success.Last years final was one of the most one - sided nil - nil draws I have ever seen and the looks of disbelief after their penalty kick defeat still remain vivid in the imagination. For Arsenal it was a case of a reversal in cup final fortunes after Liverpool similarly robbed them back in 2001.Both Man Utd and Arsenal have tremendous FA Cup records boasting sixteen cup final appearances each with eleven and ten wins respectively but on current form I can easily discount the Gooners from making my shortlist.Wengers men are not the side of seasons gone by when they were renowned for terrorising defences up and down the country with slick, incisive and exciting football. Theyve gone off the boil of late and I cant have them on my mind for backing them at the price on offer (11/2)Man Utd on the other hand have rekindled some of their best form of late and have looked menacing at times. They have a defeat of Chelsea in the book this term and employ the best player in Europe, excluding a certain resident in the Catalan, in the shape of the mercurial Wayne Rooney. On their day they can beat anyone and theyll do for me at a cracking 9/2 on offer for what could be the second part of a domestic cup double this year for Fergies Reds. With United out of Europe, you can guarantee Sir Alex will have the FA Cup near the top of his agenda, and at the prices, they look a standout bet.Chelsea head the market at a plenty short enough 3/1 and that in its own right is enough to put me off them. This competition will not be of priority as Champions League glory and a certain FC Barcelona will be firmly on their minds in the coming weeks so I envisage a rotation of playing personnel in the early rounds to accommodate their European aspirations. What would make Chelsea dangerous to the selection is if it all goes wrong against Barca, they would then only be left with the nearly wrapped up League title and this illustrious trophy to play forIm hoping they progress pass the Spaniards! Now a team you cant help but admire right now is the in form Liverpool. Rafas Reds are flying and if the European Champions maintain these sort of performance levels then the 9/1 on offer with Bet365 will look massive as they will take a lot of beating. Defensively home or away they have been water tight, totting up clean sheets for fun whilst punishing their opposition with their crisp pass and move play so attractive on the eye. A saver on The Reds isbest advised.Of the rest you can make cases for the likes of Spurs at 14s, Man City at 33s and Bolton too as they all have been impressive when at their best this term.Home draws will what these sides will crave as they have made their own patchesvery tough places to go to so its important for Jols Spurs and Big Sams Wanderers to overcome potential banana skins at Leicester and Watford respectively to insure a chance of being in that hat for the fourth round.I cant see beyond these sides as the others in the top flight are struggling to show any signs of consistency and for betting purposes you cant rely on them. One price that did catch the eye though was quotes of 80/1 about Wigan while they are as short as 33s in other books. This is a team currently sixth in the Premier League and playing without fear as they enjoy life in the top flight. The Championship sides will come up short of the grade I fear but no doubt there will be shocks on the way to Wembley as the romance of this historical competition unfolds for another year. For me though itll be the Red halves of Manchester and Liverpool that my hard earned will be with.
