There is every chance that West Ham put together some good stuff here and maybe make this more of an individual victory than a team victory. A moment of excellence from Payet and a resolute defensive display could produce a 1-0 result to West Ham and it would likely galvanise them in the league as well.

Manchester United take on Reading in the opening fixture on Saturday and they trade at a very slim price of 1/4 while Reading – who used to be a side who gave United a hard time on a regular basis back when they were in the English Premier League – can be backe at a 16/1 price. Look for the draw at 28/5, but Jose Mourinho's men are in rollicking form right now and look good value for money.

Everton will be taking on Leicester City and the Toffees come into the fixture as the odds-on favourites to get the win with a 9/10 price tag the visiting Foxes can be backed at a price of around 3/1. This one could produce a solid away victory here and while Leicester have been off this season compared to last season, they could be set to produce something good here and it looks like the type of fixture that they can win if they get it right.

English Premier League strugglers Hull City face off against another side currently sitting bottom of the league in Swansea and this one could be a very tricky wagering puzzle to solve. You'll find Hull City best priced at 17/10 while their counterparts from Wales are available at a 20/11 margin at the time of this writing.

Bournemouth have been one of the surprise packages in the Premier League this year and you'll find them trading at 10/11 to get the away victory over Millwall. This one could wind up being a replay – particularly if Millwall score first – so it's worth a look around a 3/1 margin.

Arsenal are away to Preston North End in the late fixture on Saturday and you'll find them trading at a 1/2 margin or so to get the away win – expect this to make them a pretty popular accumulator selection on the day.

On Sunday, Liverpool play host to Plymouth Argyle and come into the match at a slim 2/11 while the visiting side can be backed at 25/1. Chelsea are also very short against Peterborough and the Blues sit at a 1/5 margin against the 20/1 visitors.
