Football betting: Euro double
This Sunday makes for another exciting afternoon of football viewing as the Milan derby provides the aperitif to the handsome feast that is Real Madrid against Barcelona, with Inter Milan and the Catalan artisans an irresistible 7/2 overseas double. Runaway leaders Inter Milan are 6/5 with Ladbrokes to claim a 'home' win against Carlo Ancelotti's side and you won't get better odds on the Nerazzurri all season. Milan may be European and now World Club Champions, but beating Urawa Red Diamonds and Boca Juniors hardly constitutes a Herculean achievement. Of course they did win the European Cup for a seventh time in May but while they like to rise to the occasion in knockout competition they have been rather dreadful in Serie A this term. Although technically the away team on Sunday, they have nonetheless yet to win a match at San Siro this season and their globetrotting trip to Japan will have hardly left them feeling fresh. Inter on the other hand are completely in a league of their own. Roberto Mancini's side won the scudetto by a record margin last year and are already seven points clear of the nearest challenger this time around, despite having conducted most of the campaign to date without Marco Materazzi, Patrick Vieira, Luis Figo and Dejan Stankovic. Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be in line to steal Kaka's Ballon d'Or off him next year and the ever-improving forward will be a thorn in Milan's side again, as will Julio Cruz who has bagged nine goals in 12 matches. Lump on Inter. In Spain, Barcelona host leaders Real Madrid hoping to have reduced the four point margin to one by the end of hostilities on Sunday afternoon. With the exception of this week's irrelevant Copa Del Rey match against Alicante Real have won their last four matches, with last year's top goalscorer in Spain Ruud Van Nistelrooy in free-scoring form. However, Barcelona are getting back to their best and their demolition of Valencia, without Thierry Henry, was a joyous example of total football. The misfortune for Barca is that their rising star Lionel Messi was injured early on in that match and will not feature for Frank Rijkaard's men. All the same, Samuel Eto'o's two goals in that match showed a striker returning to devastating form, Eidur Gudjohnsen had one of his best games in a Blaugrana shirt and, oh yes, they've also got this bloke called Ronaldinho who's quite good. Verdict: 3pts Inter @ 5/4 (Ladbrokes); 3pts Barcelona @ 11/10 (BlueSq); 3pts Inter and Barcelona double @ 7/2 (Ladbrokes) Click here for your free £10 to bet on football with Ladbrokes
