His side were held to their third consecutive goalless draw in the Premier League by Everton last weekend but they do nonetheless boast the second best away record in the division. The south coast outfit have won five of their eight matches on their travels this Premier League campaign, their only two away defeats coming against Arsenal and Chelsea. Villa's home record, though, is almost as impressive. It is the fifth best in the English top flight and has only seen Manchester Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal leave with all three points. It is not really surprising that Martin O'Neill is once again being linked with the England job as he is turning his side into a creditable Premier League force. A solid defence and industrious young midfield, marshalled by the excellent Gareth Barry, is capped by an attack with devastating pace. The underrated Gabriel Agbonlahor has already scored six league goals this season, while the aerial threat posed by John Carew almost reaped its rewards against Arsenal last weekend when the Norwegian hit the bar in a match his side were unlucky not to at least draw. The fact that both sides are level on 27 points from 15 matches proves that there is very little to choose between these two teams, and tempting though Paddy Power's 9/4 about the draw does is, Villa look to be the side in the ascendancy. They were unlucky against Arsenal and have what it takes to overcome even Pompey's fine away form. Carew has scored first in two out of the last three matches and is well worth his 13/2 with Paddy Power to make it third time lucky. Verdict: 2pts Aston Villa to beat Portsmouth @ 11/10 (Paddy Power); 1pt Carew first goalscorer @ 13/2 (Paddy Power) Click here for your free £30 to play Paddy Power poker
