France vs England Euro 2012 Ladbrokes Free Bet

The opening of England's Euro 2012 campaign is almost upon us and there is a lot to like about this massive fixture – especially if you're looking to have a bet on England. The line has moved considerably on the outright market in the past few days and a match that once priced both sides at a 7/5 listing has now seen England drift up to 23/10 while France have remained listed at an identical price.

The opening line-ups are out for England at least and it looks like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will get a massive debut while Danny Welbeck looks set to start the match up front.

The bookmakers don't particularly fancy a high scoring affair with the most likely outcome considered to be either 1-0 to France or 1-1. Both outcomes are listed at 6/1 while a 0-0 draw trades at the same price. England to notch a 1-0 victory rewards at 7/1.

2-1 to France pays out at 10/1 while 2-1 to England sits at a hefty 14/1.

Karim Benzema is the favoured first goalscorer in this one and he gets that status by a bit of a margin. You'll find him trading at 6/1 while Olivier Giroud sits at 8/1. Danny Welbeck trades at 9/1 with Andy Carroll at 10/1 – obviously don't back Carroll as he's not going to be starting.

Scott Parker will have a lot of work to do in midfield and England's fullbacks will have their hands full with France's pair of relatively tricky wingers.

The is likely to be a match that is defined much more by mistakes than it is by excellent play – expect a tight and nervy affair early on with both teams reluctant to commit lots of men forward. England have told no lies about their plans by naming a single striker, though you might expect Ashley Young to get forward as often as possible.

With Wayne Rooney's absence, Ashley Young has a massive opportunity to step up and make something happen in these opening few games and he's really one of the only players who can create and take his own chances from out of nowhere. If Young sees lots of the ball and gets some space to operate along the edge of the box – England have a great chance here.
