FREE HORSE RACING TIPS: 2010 ARC DE TRIOMPHE AND LONGCHAMP GROUP 1 ACTION
The stage is finally set for the 2010 Arc De Triomphe at Longchamp and we're still aboard CAPE BLANCO (Galileo) here. The bookmakers have the AP O'Brien colt at a 10/1 price and this one looks wide open with very little difference between the antepost odds and the listings as we get closer to post time.
Cape Blanco has really come into form later on in the season and he's already disposed of Workforce (King's Best) during a late pace duel in the Group 2 Dante Stakes and scored victories in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby and the Irish Champion Stakes. He was also a clear second in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes behind Harbinger (Dansili).
His victory in the Irish Champion against a slew of talented older colts is more than enough of a reference and you've got to love the 10/1 price tag.
We'll be keying up Cape Blanco on top of our forecasts with Godolphin's Cavalryman (Halling) and Fame and Glory (Montjeu). A case can be made for Youmzain but we don't expect Behkabad (Cape Cross) to hold out. We expect the betting favourite to get to the front early but to be undone by Cape Blanco's late kick.
We've got plenty of Group 1 action during the rest of the card at Longchamp and we'll be giving you a quick rundown of selections to keep your eye on.
QATAR PRIX DU CADRAN - 12:05
Plenty in this race are stepping up in class so that evens things out a bit despite Kasbah Bliss (Kahyasi) and Blek (Chichicastenango) as the early betting favourites at 9/4. We'll be having a bash with GENTOO (Loup Solitaire) to keep moving forward at a solid 5/1.
QATAR PRIX DE L'ABBAYE DE LONGCHAMP - 12:35
SWISS DIVA (Pivotal) gets the nod here but punters are advised to keep 12/1 War Artist (Orpen) firmly in their sites while Johnny Murtagh gets the trip on Total Gallery (Namid), who looks a contender at 8/1 and should enjoy the shorter distance.
PRIX MARCEL BOUSSAC - 1:10
MISTY FOR ME (Galileo) looks the choice here based on a previous Group 1 score while the betting favourite is Helleborine (Observatory). The well-bred AP O'Brien charge is getting our vote based on the fact that Galileo's are hitting so well this year and she looks full of potential with plenty more to progress.
PRIX JEAN LUC LAGARDERE (GRAND CRITERIUM) - 1:45
Another contest for two year-olds on the grass and this one looks like a toss-up between MY NAME IS BOND (Monsieur Bond) and WOOTON BASSET (Iffraaj) and you can back them at 11/2 and 9/2, respectively. My Name is Bond has scored at Group 3 level over the Longchamp surface while Wooton Basset has been slaying it over various English courses and arrives undefeated. Stay away from the current favourite Moonlight Cloud (Invincible Spirit).
QATAR PRIX DE LA FORET - 2:20
GOLDIKOVA (Anabaa) doesn't get beaten that often and the loss in August was really just an example of luck catcing up with the star miler. She drops back to 7f in this one and that makes things interesting as she found little in the last furlong at Deauville. Paco Boy (Desert Style) and Dick Turpin (Arakan) look the main challengers, but we reckon the bay mare gets things back on track.
PRIX DE L'OPERA - 4:35
Following the Arc De Triomphe, we've got a 1m2f contest for fillies and mares where Stacelita (Monsun) looks to be the early betting favourite but we'll be teaming up with Frankie Dettori and ANTARA (Platini) to pull off the victory. Though a reverse forecast wouldn't be a bad bet either.
