GLORIOUS GOODWOOD DAY THREE TIPS AND SELECTIONS PART TWO

The 4:00 Moet Hennessy Fillies Stakes (also known as the Lillie Langtry Stakes) is a group 3 contest for fillies and mares going a 1m6f. I’m willing to wager that Polly’s Mark (Mark of Esteem) is a progressive type and will be able to handle the extra 2 furlongs as she has been just nipped on the line in her past two which were both at Haydock. With a clean trip she’s dangerous but will need to deploy that speed a bit more tactically with the extra distance here. She’ll either win it or come last.
Sir Mark Prescott’s humble filly Motrice (Motivator) could be a big story here having run 52111 in her five races of the 2010 season, forging a great partnership with Seb Sanders. I anticipate a very solid price on this one in what looks to be a wide-open race.

The 4:35 European Breeders Fund Stakes is a maiden for two-year old fillies and this is a tough one, but I reckon I’ll either be stepping aboard Electra Star (Shamardal) who looked decent on her debut or taking a bash on Sir Michael Stoute’s latest debutante Regal Heiress (Pivotal) who has Ryan Moore booked and is a nicely-bred Pivotal/Regal Rose cross.
The 5:10 Vintage at Goodwood Handicap is a 7f contest that features a very competitive 14-strong field. Cansili Star (Dansili) looks interesting and was a beaten favourite last time out at Chester. The 3 year-old gelding just missed last year at Goodwood in a nursery handicap and has run 112 this year. Top-weighted Lowdown (Shamardal) is an interesting selection but has never won going 7f. I’m tempted to go in the direction of Rio Mist (Captain Rio) who teams up with Richard Hughes once again.
The final race of the day is the 5:45 RUK Leading Jockey Award Handicap that has a very large field going 5f on the grass. Piazza San Pietro (Compton Place) is rather heavily-raced this year, running a whopping 10 times already since early May. It doesn’t seem to be affecting him at all as he’s gone 11321211 in his past eight after two forgettable races early on. Four year-old Fillie La Capriosa (Kyllachy) is worth a look as well and could be an improver.
