GLORIOUS GOODWOOD FRIDAY BETTING TIPS AND SELECTIONS

We've got a pair of Group 3 engagements and a Group 2 fixture today at Goodwood as this Glorious festival continues to unfold in fascinating fashion. There are a number of tough ones here again today, but we've been having a reasonable amount of success and I expect that to continue.

The 2:10 Coutts Glorious Stakes is a Group 3 clash with three Godolphin runners taking on seven other contenders here. Saeed Bin Suroor sends out the very talented La De Two (Galileo), Whispering Gallery (Daylami) and perennial sacrificial lamb Cavalryman (Halling). Cavalryman has had a torrid 2010 and I'm avoiding him here. Whispering has a shot if he can find his old form but will need an above average trip. I think this one boils down to a duel between Group 1 Coral Eclipse runner-up Sri Putra (Oasis Dream) and Saeed Bin Suroor's La De Two. Each-way forecast material here, folks.
The 2:45 Rolf Group Stewards Spring Handicap is a bafflingly large lineup with 28 contenders set for a proper cavalry charge over a tough 6f. Top-weighted Five Star Junior (Five Star Day) looks the business here and either Victoire De Lyphar (Bertolini) or Kellys Eye (Novetre) should give him a run for his money. Mysterious contender Olynard (Exceed and Excel) could be a threat if he improves significantly.
The 3:25 Totesport Mile looks to be all about my old pal Beauchamp Xerxes (Compton Admiral) who I picked out of the crowd at the May meet at Goodwood when he was sent off at 20/1 after costing me a few quid at Meydan. He drops in class to the handicap circuit here and should be a real threat. I will also be keeping my eye on Godolphin's Invisible Man (Elusive Quality), who conquered a 29-strong field at Ascot in mid-June.
The Group 2 Tanqueray Richmond Stakes is the most limited field of the day but there is an awful lot of talent spread between these 6 contenders. We've got half of these two year-olds undefeated with Libranno (Librettist) already with a Group 2 score under his belt. Marine Commando (Pastoral Pursuits) comes off the listed circuit and is also 2 from 2. Godolphin's Roayh (Speightstown) was beaten going 6f last time so I'll be giving him a miss.
The 4:35 RSA Nursery Handicap sees 12 contenders go 7f with The Queen's Royal Exchange (Royal Applause) being my pick here. This progressive-looking two year-old looks to have some late pace and will be a major threat with a decent trip. Major Conquest (Librettist) has taken 2 from 2, including a nursery score at the Royal Ascot meet. This one is up in the air, but these two look the pick.
The 5:15 Oak Tree Stakes is a 7f contest for fillies and mares with some rather inconsistent runners set to line up. I think Puff (Camacho) is worth a look while Tropical Paradise (Verglas) boasts a course and distance score that may prove the difference. Summer Fete (Pivotal) also has a course and distance but is going off on a seasonal debut and may need the race.
The 5:45 Turf Club Stakes is a 5f dash with Perfect Blossom (One Cool Cat) looking for her fifth strike in a row. She's shown consistent strength at the 5f distance and looks a big threat. Three year-old gelding Ignatieff (Fasliyev) is fresh off a win at Redcar while Kingsgate Choice (Choisir) could be a solid contender as well and looks to be weighted about right for this one.
