Goalscorer Preview Manchester United v Blackburn Rovers: Dimitar Berbatov
- By Lewis Doe on November 26, 2010 18:00 GMTDimitar Berbatov is a good candidate to score for Manchester United against Blackburn Rovers this weekend.
Sir Alex Ferguson recently said that he wants Berbatov to form a formidable relationship in attack with Wayne Rooney. The Bulgarian looked a constant threat in the Champions League win over Rangers and will feel unlucky that he was taken off.
Berbatov is at his best when he is given free reign to do as he likes in attack. The fact that he should start with Rooney in this game will allow him to do this because both players opposite the actions of the other, which is hard to defend against. He is fitter than he has ever been and it will be strange if he doesn’t start the game.
He has a brilliant ability to spot players making runs and players in space without giving anything away. This means he can create a chance through an intelligent pass before an opposition defence has had time to react.
Berbatov also provides United with an extra threat in the air. He is very tall and strong, which means he can hold the ball up if the United defence needs to play it long to release any pressure Blackburn manage to build up.
Berbatov is a player who thrives on confidence and seems to excel when he is focused on a common goal. He’s scored a total of seven goals this season with six of them coming in the Premier League.
He is a very good bet to score the first goal of the game at a best price of 4/1. He also looks good value at 11/10 to score at any point during the game. He did not look best pleased to be taken off against Rangers and should be determined to perform well so it doesn’t happen in this Premier League tie.
