Grand national tips
We're only a few days from the 2007 Grand National and there's been plenty of money for the Howard Johnson-trained Bewley's Berry in recent weeks. The horse can still be backed at 25/1 (Ladbrokes) but that price is fast disappearing into 20's with many firms. The County Durham trainer is enthusiastic about the horse's chances, having finished second in the Becher Chase earlier this year. The only slight question mark is whether he'll stay the trip but the predicted good ground suggests that he will. Point Barrow (10/1 Paddy Power) and Dun Doire (10/1 Sporting Odds) currently head the betting market, with Joe's Edge third favourite at 12/1 (Ladbrokes) after a magnificent win in the William Hill Trophy at the Cheltenham Festival last month. John Spearing's Simon (16/1 bet365) was an impressive winner of the Racing Post Chase at Kempton and, along with Joe's Edge and Bewley's Berry, appears to represent Britain's best chance of winning a race that the Irish have dominated in recent years.
