Gunners to fire to Champions League qualification?
Although lacklustre, their 2-0 win against Bolton Wanderers maintained Arsenal's perfect home record on Saturday and the Gunners can be relied upon to take their run into double figures when Slavia Prague visit in the Champions League on Tuesday. Arsène Wenger's side will doubtless come unstuck at some point and, with a Premier League trip to Liverpool on Sunday closely followed by the visit of Manchester United the following weekend, the Londoners could well suffer a setback in the next fortnight. However, Wenger will take no chances with his team selection against Slavia as a third Champions League group win will all but ensure qualification for the knockout stages and maintain unbeaten Arsenal's momentum ahead of the Anfield clash. The Premier League leaders are without the injured Robin van Persie but this will give Eduardo Da Silva the chance to stake his claim for a place and add to his one European goal, back him on SportingBet to open the scoring. Slavia have already managed a Champions League win over Steaua Bucharest in the group they reached after eliminating Ajax in the qualifiers, but the subsequent 4-2 defeat at home to Sevilla suggests Arsenal will have far too much firepower for the Czech outfit. Sevilla, meanwhile, should have no problem against Steaua despite only ending a disappointing league run of four straight league defeats against Levante at the weekend. Uncertainty over coach Juande Ramos, the death of defender Antonio Puerta and a tough clutch of opening fixtures have all taken their toll but the Uefa Cup winners look to be back on track and will be buoyed by the Slavia and Levante wins. Elsewhere, Valencia and Werder Bremen are both looking for Champions League wins after disappointing defeats in their two group games to date. Valencia have lost to Chelsea and FC Schalke and need a win at Rosenborg to keep their Champions League dream alive. Rosenborg will look to shut up shop in Norway but Valencia, who are third in the Primera Liga, have the quality to break down their hosts. Bremen, who are also performing well domestically and lie second in the Bundesliga, have lost to Real Madrid and, surprisingly, Olympiacos in the Champions League but they will expect to overcome Lazio, who struggled to a narrow 1-0 way at lowly Livorno on Sunday.
