HAYE V HARRISON AND ENGLAND T20 BETTING
It has today been confirmed that David Haye will make the second defence of his WBA world heavyweight title against fellow Briton Audley Harrison.
Harrison won Olympic gold in Sydney in 2000 but has since failed to live up to his personal promise of going on to become a world champion. Now at the age of 38 this is expected to be Harrison’s final chance to fulfil that prophecy.
Haye commented in a fiesty press conference: "I don't believe Audley deserves a chance but enough people want to see him finally destroyed, that is why this fight is happening."
The pair will meet at the MEN Arena on November 13 in what will be the first all-British fight for a world heavyweight title since Lennox Lewis met Frank Bruno in 1993.
Haye is the clear bookies favourite at odds of 1/7 with Bet365 whilst Harrison is 4/1.
In cricket, England take on Pakistan in the second and final Twenty20 international looking to seal a series win following their comfortable victory on Sunday. The Pakistan players put up a good fight amid difficult circumstances but were ultimately outclassed by the world champions.
The visitors again start this match as the rank outsiders at odds of 2/1 on Betfair. Whilst the emphatic nature of the defeat on Sunday gives little reason to suggest backing Pakistan they are always capable of periods of brilliance. For that reason, those who like to trade on the exchanges should back the tourists as they are certain to trade at a shorter price at some stage throughout the match.
Finally, in golf, yesterday I alluded to the fact that Brandt Snedeker could force his way into Corey Pavin’s Ryder Cup plans with a win in the Deutsche Bank Championship. However, it was another American, Charley Hoffman, who did just that by carding a brilliant 9-under-par final round to win the tournament by five shots. Pavin will name his Ryder Cup team later today.
