Heath Ledger's Best Supporting Actor Academy Award 2009 Betting

Thanks to his incredible portrayal of the Joker in this summer's blockbuster, The Dark Knight, the late Heath Ledger is considered by many to be the favourite to win an Academy Award, albeit posthumously. Irish Bookmaker Paddy Power has just released several betting lines referencing the Dark Knight film and its chances at taking home one of the coveted statues.In fact, closer analysis of the actual odds reveals that you would be foolish to bet anywhere else on the Best Supporting Actor results. Ledger is currently listed at 1-25 just to be nominated and his odds of coming out on top (against unnamed competition mind you) is a mere 8-13. Christian Bale is listed at 12-1 to win Best Actor for his turn playing Bruce Wayne, while quirky-princess Maggie Gyllenhaal is listed at a slightly longer 18-1 to take home best supporting actress.
