INTER MILAN VS BARCELONA 2009 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE BETTING TIPS
Arguably the biggest clash out of all of Matchday 1 in the 2009 Champions League is the match-up between Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan and Josep Guardiola's Barcelona. We're going to see some absolutely incredible match-ups today and, thankfully, 888sport has some very interesting odds set to go for this incredible fixture. First and foremost, there's good prices all around here with Inter listed at 15/8, the draw at 9/4 and Barcelona available at 7/5 for the away win. You can take Inter on a draw no bet at evens and Barca at 8/11. The sheer amount of talent on display here is really incredible with many former team-mates set to go head-to-head. Samuel Eto'o plays against his old teammates and, due to some of the bad blood there, I could see a few bone-crunching tackles heading his way. Wesley Sneijder will be lining up against his old side as well. Zlatan Ibramhimovic may feel the wrath of the home fans as he lines up for the Catalan Club instead of the Italian side. A lot really depends on the formations deployed by the managers, but I expect Inter to be playing a compact and organized style of football meant to stifle Barcelona. I can see Patrick Viera being prominent in midfield and I wonder whether they will be able to man-mark Lionel Messi effectively. The favoured correct score result is a 0-0 draw or a 1-1 draw at 6/1. Barceona's lowest price is at 15/2 for a 1-0 win while a 2-0 or 2-1 margin in their favour pays out at 10/1. Inter's shortest price is 7/1 with 2-0 and 2-1 at 14/1 and 11/1, respectively. A 2-2 draw is plausible and that acarries a 16/1 price. I don't know if we'll see a lot of goals here, both teams will be looking to keep a clean sheet, but I fancy Barca to be more adventurous. There are piles of money to be made on the half-time/full-time market with Inter to win both halves at 4/1. Barca to win both halves is 10/3 while Draw/Inter is 11/2. Draw/Barca is 5/1. Additionally, the Inter/Barca and Barca/Inter selections are both at 25/1. It's clear that the bookies expect a small scoreline because all the goalscorers are listed at high odds for such prolific strikers. Eto'o is 13/8 anytime while Messi and Zlatan are at 6/4. Thierry Genry is at 13/8 while Andres Iniesta and Jeffren Suarez are both at 3/1. Eto'o, Messi and Ibramhimovic are 10/1 to score a brace and 66/1 to score a hat-trick. I think there is a very good chance that this match ends in a low-scoring draw. This is the type of match that should be incredible and would make a solid two-legged affair. As a straight-up group stage match (especially an opening one) it is a little less exciting. I really want this to be a barn-burning 3-2 win, but 1-1 looks about right.
