Several interesting international friendlies are kicking off today and there are a couple of nice betting opportunities for those looking to buck the trend and go for a bit of value in their wager. We’ll be taking a look at some of these fixtures and trying to get a gauge on just how things are expected to shape up.

Spain vs Uruguay has the Spanish side trading at an 8/13 price to get the outright result. Uruguay will have come a long way for this one and that’s going to see them perhaps underlaid a bit at 5/1. The Spanish price isn’t exactly enticing on its own in a straight 1X2 market but it certainly looks good as the opening leg of a treble.
The draw is available at 13/5 and that’s more of a bet to make at half-time than prior to the actual kick-off.
David Villa is odds-on to score at 10/11 - the only player below evens.
Northern Ireland face off against Malta and they’re at a solid 23/20 to get the outright result. Northern Ireland tend to impress against lesser opposition and Malta’s 13/5 price is about right for this occasion. There’s a lot to like about Northern Ireland at the moment so we’ll be backing them to get the victory here.
Sweden vs Argentina is a tricky betting match with Argentina easily the better side on paper, unfortunately for them they just don’t tend to play that well - particularly in away friendlies against European opposition. Sweden don’t exactly look like the most offensive side in the world so this one makes itself a good candidate for a bore 0-0 draw.
A tied affair would reward at 9/4.
Republic of Ireland vs Poland is a bit of a toss-up and the Irish are paying out at a solid 17/10 while the eastern European side can be backed at 7/4. Look for the Irish to try to grab an early goal - perhaps from a set-piece - and hang on to grab a 1-0 victory.
France vs Germany is looking like the other blockbuster match aside from England vs Brazil. The French side are looking like the slim favourites with a 6/4 price while Germany can be backed at 15/8 - we’ll be staying off that one as it’s going to be hard to predict. An in-play wager is probably the way to get for punters who have to get a bet down as you’ll want to get an idea of where the gaps are as this one will probably be decided by a mistake as opposed to a moment of brilliance.
