IRELAND VS FRANCE 2ND LEG BETTING TIPS
After France pulled off a 1-0 victory in a fiery clash with Ireland, the action now shifts to Paris as the 2nd leg is set to kick off tomorrow. I expect a rollicking match and plenty of travelling Irish support for this massive clash. As it currently stands, France are considered to be almost massive favourites to go through to the next stage and I think the Irish will need to pull out all the stops to match Les Bleus.
Top bookmaker Blue Square has listed France at 1/2 for the outright victory in the 2nd leg and a massive 1/16 to qualify for the World Cup. When you think that the margin is only 1 goal, the potential pay-out on Ireland could be tremendous. Giovanni Trapattoni’s side are listed at a full 7/1 to qualify for the 2010 World Cup.
Blue Square is offering up method of victory odds on this match that are supremely rewarding. How’s this for a hot payday? If Ireland win the match in extra-time you’re looking at a whopping 100/1 payout. Should the Irish score a victory on penalties, you’re looking at 50/1 and a victory in 90 minutes garners a 10/1 price.
Should the Irish go on to dominate the game, the half-time/full-time market has them well-priced to win both halves at 11/1. France/ France is listed at 5/4 while Draw/France is 3/1 and Draw/Ireland is a massive 14/1. That is an entirely plausible result.
Robbie Keane is listed at 12/5 to score anytime and 33/1 to score in both halves. Should Keane score with a header, you’re looking at 16/1. He is priced at 4/1 to score first for Ireland and 33/1 to be sent off.
Nicolas Anelka is 11/10 to score anytime and Thierry Henry is 6/4 anytime.
I think the tie is certainly France’s to win, but I won’t bet against the Irish pulling off a dramatic late-result. I think this could really be one for the in-play punters, but I’ll be backing a scorecast of Kevin Doyle/Ireland 2-1 @ 160/1. I’m also backing that Irish victory in extra-time @ 100/1.
