IRISH CHAMPION STAKES BETTING TIPS
Things are certainly looking up for Irish powerhouse Sea the Stars and trainer John Oxx as the latest fixed-odds betting for the 2009 Irish Champion Stakes indicates that punters are piling on to the 2000 Guineas winner. Currently listed at 1.93 for the outright victory on Betfair, this one certainly looks to be another incredible duel between two of the stand-outs of this flat racing season- Sea the Stars and Fame and Glory. Fame and Glory was defeated by Sea the Stars back in early June during the running of the Investec Derby at Epsom. It wasn't really even in contention towards the end of the race as Sea the Stars performance was a dominating one. Fame and Glory has since put in a very solid performance in the Irish Derby where he bested a tough field of 11 in an easy victory. He is listed at 2.66 on Betfair. For my money, Sea the Stars really is the one to beat here as he's literally won six on the bounce over some of the most impressive names in English racing. He's dispatched the likes of Delegator, Rip Van Winkle, Mastercraftsman, Conduit, Debussy, and Masterofthehorse. He is a special runner and I'm backing him to get the business done this Saturday at Leopardstown. Sea the Stars is rumoured to be pointed towards the $5,000,000 Breeders Cup Classic after this race and it could be a very interesting future for this incredible 3 year-old. In the $1,000,000 Irish Champion Stakes, you'll find Mastercraftsman at 10.0, Casual Conquest at 24.0, Lord Admiral at 520.0, Grand Ducal and Loch Long carrying a 580.0 with Rockhampton and Set Sail listed at a whopping 650.0. Our selection: Nobody but Sea the Stars. I also like a straight tricast using the top 3.
